History

According to the natives, 2015 years ago, the strangers called “Moro” were known for their cruelty, arrived in this area, whenever they saw the natives, the Moro killed them and drop them into a big hole called “Awang” (an Ilonggo dialect). Since then, the place was commonly called “Sawang”.

Barangay Sawang is the smallest barangay in the Municipality of Buenavista, located along the shore facing Iloilo City.
