Magsaysay, was formerly known as Sitio “Salag  Diutay”. During that time, there were only few number of households or constituents lived in that area for it was only considered as “sitio” of Barangay Zaldivar which popularly known as “Salag Daku”.

Lately, population in that area was gradually increasing in number that they wanted also to have their place an identity; so, they took a move to create their sitio into a legitimate barangay during the administration of former President Ramon Magsaysay. It was on May 31, 1962 when Sitio Salag Diutay was formally created as barangay thru the effort of former Congressman Pascual P. Espinosa during the administration of the former Buenavista Municipal Mayor Ruben Habana. The name of the barangay was registered as Barangay Magsaysay in honor of President Ramon Magsaysay, hence, the first Barangay Fiesta was celebrated. A sitio then arouse and they named it “Sitio Bangkiling”.
