During the Spanish regime, Tiyo Tulio, a native of Miag-ao in Iloilo, undoubtedly leave Miag-ao and sailed via boat to escape the atrocities of Spanish Government.

When they arrived in an island, a place which he considered as their new home, commonly called “Eli”. Tiyo Tulio was well respected by the residents aside from he is known as a “man of wisdom”. In addition, they believed that he is blessed with a healing power.

There was once an epidemic that spread the area and its environment. Residents have nowhere to ask for help but to Tiyo Tulio. In his time, he is a well-known “albolario”. They have a strong faith in his knowledge or idea to heal. He died  of old age, yet he didn’t know that the place  known as “Eli” where he stayed and considered as his home lately changed to the name in his  memory, “Getuilo”; which means “Tulio of Eli”.
